Cappo lands back-to-back 5s

Adding to the craziness of this day on Lake Fork, Quentin Cappo landed one of the more unusual back-to-back 5-pounders you’ll ever see. It was all captured on “Bassmaster Live.” Cappo had been stuck on one bass, also a 5-pounder, for over two hours. Then he landed a 5-pound, 9-ounce bass that was barely hooked on a single treble of a crankbait. Cappo pitched, not cast, but pitched the crankbait back in the water to remove a backlash from his reel. Suddenly his rod loaded up.

“Are you kidding me?” Cappo said. “I don’t even know. I don’t even know. That just happened. I thought I was hung on my PowerPole.”

It was a 5-pound, 10-ounce bass on the end of his line this time. That gives Cappo 16-9 for the day. With 3 fish, he’s only 13-1 behind leader Lee Livesay. That way this day has gone, 13-1 doesn’t sound like much.
