Christie headed back to Orange

Jason Christie has a solid limit of 11-plus-pounds, but that won’t mean much if his final goal of the day isn’t met. That goal is simply to get back to the Orange Boat Ramp check-in point on time. Christie has a 7-ounce lead over Brock Mosley in the unofficial BassTrakk estimates. He’s giving himself plenty of time to get back. He said it was a 1-hour, 45-minute ride to get to his area way up the Sabine River. By leaving at noon, he’s allowing over 3 hours to make check-in time. He might need every bit of that if he runs out of gas.

“It’s going to be fumes, if we make it back,” Christie said.

He mentioned yesterday all the measures he’s taken to conserve fuel – removing all unnecessary tackle from his Express boat and keeping his speed below 40 miles per hour. And it was still close yesterday.
