We have caught up with Nick LeBrun, who caught 15 pounds, 2 ounces to take the lead on Day 1 of the 2021 Basspro.com Bassmaster Open at Lewis Smith Lake.
Although he had an earlier boat draw and only a minimal fog delay, LeBrun hasn’t found the success he enjoyed yesterday yet.
LeBrun has the trolling motor on high fishing a topwater bait while also monitoring his Active Target units for potential schools. He has landed two non-keeper fish with two different techniques.
Since he didn’t make it to his first spot until after 9 a.m. yesterday, he has long been able to detect a change in conditions. He plans to stick with his original game plan a while longer before switching things up.
