Today Andy Crawford and I will be following 3rd-place angler Clifford Pirch, which is significant for a number of reasons. First, he’s the only current Elite near the top of the standings. Second, he is fishing an area where I didn’t expect any competitors to be … that could be a strategic advantage. I was sitting with Steve Bowman last night when he called Pirch. Even the normally unflappable Bowman had to ask again if he was telling the truth.
Finally, Pirch is a closer. He has won the U.S. Open multiple times, and despute his reputation as a finesse guy, he also won a heavy weight FLW event in Chickamauga, another TVA impoundment.
