Hall of Famer with a 3 1/2-pound smallmouth

David Fritts posted a big number on Day 1 at Cayuga Lake. His 19-pound, 5-ounce bag put him in 19th place. He’s got a 3 1/2-pound smallmouth in his livewell today.

Fritts has a Hall of Fame date marked on his calendar this fall. Specifically, it’s the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mo., on October 3. Fritts will join our legendary anglers Davy Hite and Mark Davis, Zoom Bait Co. founder, the late Ed Chambers, and artist/illustrator, the late Chris Armstrong in this year’s induction class.

The highlights of Fritts’ Hall of Fame-worthy career include both the Bassmaster Classic title and the FLW Championship plus Angler of the Year titles on both of those major circuits.
