It’s all about survive and advance

As we approach NCAA Basketball Tournament time, you’ll hear the phrase a lot, “Survive and advance.” It doesn’t matter if a team wins pretty or pretty ugly, just win and get to the next round. That could be the theme for this tournament as well. Everyone expects the fishing to change day to day on the Tennessee River this week, particularly because of the rain in the forecast. Just because you caught them one way today, doesn’t mean you’ll be able to repeat it tomorrow.

Surviving is simply finishing in a decent place in the standings today. And one way to do that is catch a 4-pounder, as evidenced by Cory Johnston’s day. He was one bass short of a limit at 2 p.m., according to BassTrakk, but he was in 4th place with 10-1 thanks to this 4-pound, 2-ounce largemouth.
