Tanner Ward and Rory Franks of Kent State have the best bag I’ve heard of so far. The Ohio anglers have 17 pounds or so with plenty of room to grow.
“We have two 4-plus pounders, a 3 and change and then two 2 1/2-pounders,” Ward said. “Our biggest happened early at our first spot. Then we went through a pretty good flurry to get to the weight we are at right now.”
In 2018, Ward fished with a different teammate and finished 72nd with 17-3. They’ve already matched that total on Day 1 this week.
