Nation angler proposes

Tucker Peschl may have had a tough a time during the TNT Fireworks B.A.S.S. Nation Central Regional on Lake Guntersville, but shaking off a 164th-place finish, the non boater from Tyndall, S.D., netted the catch of a lifetime when his girlfriend Carrie Wieben said “yes” to the marriage proposal he made at the South Dakota team dinner/after party.

Peschl and Wieben have dated for 2 1/2 years and tonight just seemed like a good time, the now-betrothed angler said.

“She went to get her food and when she came back, I got down on one knee and proposed,” Peschl said.

The newly engaged couple have plenty of common ground, as they fish together several time a month on Lewis and Clark Lake, near Springfield, S.D. Carrie’s favorite bait is a green pumpkin Berkley Chigger Craw, which she simply calls a “green pumpkin.”

Of Carrie’s angling skill, Peschl diplomatically claimed the fifth, but we’re sure he’ll apply his tournament-tested skills and experience to help nurture his bride-to-be’s bass game.

Peschl’s personal best bass was and 8 1/2-pounder, but when asked to compare that moment to tonight’s memory, he said: “This is twice as good.”

Well said, sir; well said.
