Lee Mattox and Mithcell Naler were boat No. 1 leaving the dock for the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series at Bull Shoals Lake presented by Bass Pro Shops. Of course they wanted to end the day in the same position.
“We got a couple good areas where we’ve seen a couple above average fish,” Mattox said. “We’ll get to our first spot and be throwing some topwater and hope that works out, then we plan to hit smallmouth later in the day.”
They will have to battle almost 200 other teams on a rainy day in north central Arkansas. Light rains were forecast for much of the day, ending around the time the teams will get back to Bull Shoals Boat Dock for the weigh-in at 2:30 p.m. CT.
Holding that No. 1 spot won’t be an easy proposition.
“No, but we’ll try,” Mattox said.
When the takeoff order reverses for Day 2 on Friday, the Alabama team will be the last to go out.
