Peace of mind

Randy Pierson, who is representing the B.A.S.S. Nation at the Classic and on the Elite Series this year, hadn’t fished Tellico at all during practice.

“I had to make the hour-plus run just to rule it out,” he said. “I was worried about getting a bite and having to change my entire strategy. From what I’ve seen, I don’t think my time will be spent up here. But you never know.”

It’s risky business making a long run like that, especially if the bites he’s getting elsewhere are from better fish.

Since competitive bass fishing is a mental game, being able to cross unproductive areas from the list absolutely narrows down the search for the winning pattern.

For Pierson, the trip into Tellico today was just that: “Peace of mind.”
