Prince on the cusp of rescuing his season

Cliff Prince started this season on a yo-yo string – finishing 17th in the opener at the St. Johns River, then 72nd at Lake Lanier. And it’s been like that since: 24th at Winyah Bay, then 61st at Lake Fork.

It has kept him on the outside looking in as far as qualifying for the Bassmaster Classic. However, the Palatka, Fla., pro has a chance to break that up-and-down pattern this week. He’s coming off a 26th-place finish at the St. Lawrence River. Prince was 24th in the Day 1 standings here yesterday, and he’s got another small limit so far today.

Most importantly, based on yesterday’s results, Prince has moved up to 43rd in the Toyota Angler of the Year standings, just one spot outside the Bassmaster Classic cut.
