Rivet’s pattern

Tyler Rivet’s lower lake pattern has gone from on first to lukewarm. Never mind though, as he’s got the BassTrakk lead with 55 pounds, 2 ounces, or about 1 pound ahead of Bill Lowen.

Just like yesterday morning, the action came quick, as Rivet caught a 19-pound limit in about an hour. The same thing happened today, as there is 15 pounds in the livewell.

“Early today, it was one every cast, and now it’s only one about every 10 casts,” he said.

Rivet’s pattern involves making stops on points with a combination of rock and pea gravel, which forms a tapering point into deeper water. Last week, top Pickwick guide David Allen told me this pattern could come into play on the lower lake, as it is doing now for Rivet.

“The bass use the tapering pea gravel formations as ambush points,” said Allen.

We don’t know anything more about the details about how, where and why the bass are holding on such areas, as they are found on most of the points in the lower lake.
