Who can solve Neely Henry Monday?

In three days of the Whataburger Bassmaster Elite at Neely Henry Lake there have been three different leaders. On Day 1 it was Brock Mosley, who weighed a five-bass limit of 16-pounds, 15 ounces. On Day 2 it was Paul Mueller, who had a two-day total of 30-6. On Sunday it was Wes Logan, who matched Mosley’s 16-15 big bag of the tournament in totaling 43-8.

Will somebody else solve Neely Henry’s ever-changing puzzle on Championship Monday? Logan, Mueller and third-place Bob Downey seem best positioned to win. They’re separated by only 2 pounds, 12 ounces. Fourth-place Gerald Swindle and fifth-place Jason Christie are less than 5 pounds off the lead.

There have been 1,090 bass brought to the scales in this tournament, averaging just 2.10 pounds per fish. Logan made his big jump from 8th to 1st Sunday thanks to two big bites – a 5-4 and a 3-12. The water level is falling in the upper end of Neely Henry and it’s rising in the lower end. How bass will be caught on Monday is anyone’s guess.

Logan, who is from Springville, Ala., grew up fishing this lake. “The only thing I feel like that helps me with being a local, with as much stuff changing, is that I know how the fish act when something happens,” Logan said. “You’ve just got to hit the timing right. I’m going to be 100 percent junk fishing. I’m going to have three or four baits, and I’m going to run everywhere I can fish those. If I get bites, they’re going to be good ones.”
