Timber can be a beautiful thing! The cypress trees of the Santee Cooper Lakes provide some of the most spectacular views in all of bass fishing but it’s the trees we can’t see that have made an impact so far this week.
Countless anglers have recorded fish catches off the base of the cypress trees but some of the Elite Series pro’s this week have earned a stripe or two courtesy of a submerged Santee Cooper stump.
This media boat and yours truly have not been an exception to that rule. Currently on a mission in the swamp to locate Bassmaster Angler of the Year points leader, Clark Wendlandt, has brought the opportunity to bounce off a few stumps.
“The last time I was in here, I was duck hunting,” remarked the driver of my boat.
