H.R. 200 – now is the time to act

H.R. 200 is up for vote in the U.S. House of Representatives next Tuesday, June 26. The voice of bass anglers is critical in changing fisheries management laws for recreational fishing. We need you to contact your legislators now and let them know that, as an angler, you support H.R. 200 and the Modern Fish Act. Here’s why.

To break it down, H.R. 200 contains provisions of the Modern Fish Act, which aims to update antiquated, regulatory framework and continue to promote conservation and protect fish populations in our federal fisheries. There are 46 million anglers in the country, and one of every four anglers fishes in saltwater. That means 11 million Americans like to get out and fish our nation’s coastal waters. When you consider all the crossover fishing that happens year in and year out, tens of thousands of people participate in both freshwater and saltwater fishing. Bass anglers must come together and support laws that benefit our saltwater fisheries. Currently, fisheries management battles in Congress are focused on saltwater fisheries, but at any time these issues could spread to freshwater lakes, rivers, or countless other fisheries.

So what can you do to help? You can send a pre-written letter to your Representatives in less than five minutes. Go to www.bassforsalt.com/modernfishact and send your letter urging our elected officials to vote yes on the Modern Fish Act. It’s that easy. Future generations of anglers are depending on us! Please take the time to send a letter and protect your right to fish today!
