As I See It: My last regular season Elite gig

Dateline:  Memories

I’m going to be honest with you, I’m dreading next week at the final regular season Elite event of 2018 in Waddington, NY.

It’s been highlighted on my calendar for months now for one simple reason, it’s my last Elite regular season event of my career.  At the end of this year I’m going to slow down, spend time with my family, and come off the Bassmaster tour.

It all began for me in July of 2007, this photo captured me in a boat with then Elite angler, James Niggemeyer, it was the first time I ever was in a bass boat, it was the first time I ever heard of professional bass fishing or B.A.S.S., everything was brand new.

It’s been 11 years now almost to the month and in those 11 years I’ve managed to do:

Several hundred B.A.S.S. tournaments of various sizes.

Written  over 600 stories about all sorts of things.

Traveled to 28 states.

Drove at last count 464,000 miles (have gone through 4 vehicles).

And have spent 186 weeks on the road, the equivalent of THREE AND A HALF YEARS.

In talking with BASS this week they have been very generous as to what I will get to do next week, which is to look back, to sit down and talk with the people who brought me into this game, some antidotes but mostly about YOU!

You the fans of the sport, if not for you I probably would have moved on long ago, so part of next week will be about YOU!

I just wanted to put this quick note up so you join me next week in a celebration of all you and the sport have given me over this past decade-plus-one.

Hope you join me, and may God Bless,
