Gear Review: Plano Guide Series Bags

What is it?

Plano Guide Series Bags

What sets it apart?

Plano’s upgraded Guide Series tackle bags feature a hard-backed construction made of 1680 Denier fabric that will hold its color and shape for years, redesigned pockets for improved access and precision laser-cut MOLLE attachment points for customizing a bag with smaller storage pouches. Each bag includes heavy-duty oversized zippers, which eliminate binding and facilitate effortless opening and closing. A new TPR molded base provides extra rigidity and has gripping power to keep the bag stable.

How do I use it?

Plano’s new Guide Series bags come in standard 3500, 3600 and 3700 sizes, as well as the spacious 3700XL. Complementing the series’ common features, the 3700XL also includes integrated rod holders and backpack straps that tuck out of the way when used in the standard tackle bag configuration. The 3500 size includes five 3500 Plano Stowaways, the 3600 includes five 3650s and one 3500, and the 3700 includes five 3750s and one 3650.

Angler’s insight:

As someone who has “donated” countless items to America’s waterways, I give Plano big props for the most impressive feature of its Guide Series updates — the patent-pending magnetic Dropzone. Integrated into the lid, the extra strong rare earth magnets hold pliers, braid cutters and various tools between uses — even while running to your next spot. Done with a lure — toss it onto the Dropzone, and it stays put. I’m thinking this nifty deal is going to save a lot of lost or misplaced items while helping keep the deck somewhat organized during a hot bite.
