Gear Review: BOOYAH Covert Night Time Spinnerbait

WHAT IS IT?

BOOYAH Covert Night Time

WHAT SETS IT APART?

In 2019, Booyah introduced a tremendously diverse family of spinnerbaits designed by Bassmaster Elite Series champion Jason Christie. Offering experience-driven combinations of colors and components for specific scenarios, the Covert line covered just about every imaginable spinnerbait application — except an after-dark look. Again tapping into Christie’s expertise, Booyah expanded the Covert family by adding the nighttime option.

HOW DO I USE IT?

The Covert Night Time spinnerbait is offered in 1/2- and 3/4-ounce sizes, both of which feature an oversized, anodized Colorado blade. The 1/2-ounce model measures 5 inches long and comes fitted with a No. 5 blade. The 3/4-ounce bait is 5.25 inches long and carries a No. 6 blade. Two color options are availalbe: All black and a black/red model (red blade and head with black/red skirt).

ANGLER’S INSIGHT:

Booyah designed the Covert Night Time with an obvious namesake focus, however, those high-visibility colors, along with the hard-thumping blades and prominent profile make this spinnerbait an effective option for fishing muddy water during daylight hours. Like every model in the Covert line, the Night Time spinnerbaits include all the features Christie insisted upon — a modified BOOYAH Head with a raked-out gill to counter blade torque and keep the bait running true, a premium Hildebrandt blade, a dual-length skirt and a large, ultra-sharp hook.
