Gear Review: Flambeau Blade Krate

WHAT IS IT?

Flambeau Blade Krate

WHAT SETS IT APART?

Recognizing the give-and-take of bladed baits — superior shallow water performance, but storage challenges — Flambeau created an appropriate tackle storage solution with the Blade Krate. Because bladed and skirted baits are prone to tangling, individual storage compartments keep individual lures from mingling. Flambeau provides this segregation with space for 42 bladed lures in a compact form made to fit standard tackle bags and boat compartments.

HOW DO I USE IT?

Made with purpose-driven functionality, the Flambeau Blade Krate comprises a simple, ergonomic filing cabinet form with 21 plastic folders designed to hang two lures each with integrated clips. The removable billfold-style clams ensure tangle-free storage by keeping hooks, skirts and blades individually protected. Krate interiors are easily modified to create up to three bulk storage compartments for accompanying soft plastic trailers when a section of folders is removed.

ANGLER’S INSIGHT:

Finally, an end to the picking and shaking routine. Hanging bladed, skirted baits in an orderly manner will minimize selection time — and if you label those compartments (permanent marker on removable tape), the process flows even more efficiently. Flambeau keeps the Blade Krate’s contents protected with a waterproof silicone gasket and compression cam latches on the front and sides. Drainage holes in the bottom of the folders allow moisture runoff from wet lures, while Zerust VCI (volatile corrosion inhibitor) vapor technology prevents rust.
