Gear Review: Huk Pursuit Jacket

WHAT IS IT?

Huk Pursuit Jacket

WHAT SETS IT APART?

Often it happens — a casual day on the water sees its weather worsen with conditions bringing just enough chill or moisture to make you uncomfortable. Huk addresses this with a lightweight jacket that blends performance fabrics with functional features. The Pursuit Jacket is made of a four-way stretch fabric for optimal mobility, while the 10k waterproof/breathable material employs a high-tech membrane to keep water out but allows interior moisture to escape.

HOW DO I USE IT?

This angler-friendly design features two hand-warmer pockets to stave off the chill; a zippered chest pocket for holding glasses, snacks or small gear items; a stowaway hood that stays out of sight until needed; and reflective taping to increase visibility. Available in sizes S-3XL, the Pursuit Jacket comes in solid colors (glacier, sargasso sea, kalamata olive, silver blue and gill red) and camo (bluefin and hunt club).

HOW MUCH?

$90 (3XL + $5); $100 (3XL + $10)

ANGLER’S INSIGHT:

They’re not all bundle-up, shivering kind of days, so no need to overdo it for moderate weather. Still, a cool fall/winter breeze and a light rain will make life miserable for the unprepared. Huk’s new Pursuit Jacket looks to be a strategic piece in your outerwear arsenal. I particularly like the stowaway hood that keeps the moisture off your head, but it maintains the low-profile look that makes this a jacket you can wear on and off the water.
