Gear Review: Spro Wameku Shad 70

What is it?

Spro Wameku Shad 70

What sets it apart?

The biggest feature that sets this lipless crankbait apart is its dual line tie system. You can tie it on top for a deeper, more subtle action at 5 to 8 feet, or the bottom (front) line tie for a shallower, more erratic 3 to 5 feet. It’s available in eight colors including a few craws and shad.

How do I use it?

Just like any lipless crankbait, but with the added benefit of deciding how deep you want it to run. If the fish are relating to shallower water, this could be a great bait. I prefer a faster reel setup with lipless baits so that erratic action is amplified by the speed of the retrieve.

How much?

Angler’s insight:

“Wameku” is Japanese for “to shout, to cry, to scream, to clamor.” This bait’s high pitched knocking sound and dual purpose line ties means it’s designed to get attention wherever you need it to be. Lipless crankbaits are a blast to throw, and the Wameku Shad brings something new to the table. In the spring and fall, there’s not many more fun  and effective ways to catch bass than with lipless cranks.
