You may notice Bassmaster.com looks a bit different today. That’s because we’ve rolled out several upgrades, many of them based on your feedback.
The most noticeable change is we moved to a white background (from black), and reorganized the homepage. Here are some of the new features:
Content Buckets: We wanted to make it easier for you to find the content you’re looking for so we organized the homepage into “content buckets” or themes (see one below). Some examples include How-to, Gear, Kayaks, and Conservation. If you’re not interested in what we have at the top of the homepage, scroll down and you’ll find a wide variety of topics.
Serving Recreational Anglers: Our Elite tournaments and Classic have a way of completely taking over the homepage during competition. During those days a recreational angler, who may not care about the tournaments, wouldn’t find much of interest on the homepage. With our new homepage we’ll have a large graphic at the top of the page with a link to the full tournament coverage. That will leave much of the homepage for the How-to and Gear content recreational anglers crave.
Introducing BASS Life: this new category is a broader look at the outdoor lifestyle, including camping, RV life, travel, trucks, food, hunting and even dogs. We believe fishing is indeed a lifestyle that includes several other passions. Our goal with this new category is to inspire your to get outdoors, even when that doesn’t involve fishing. One example of this new content is the Top 15 campgrounds for anglers.
Meet Bass Basics: One of the core goals for Bassmaster is helping anglers catch more and bigger fish. But we haven’t always done a great job of teaching entry-level anglers the bare basics. This new category seeks to remedy that, with new stories and videos each month.
Fantasy Fishing Gets an Upgrade: Rapala comes in as the new title sponsor of Fantasy Fishing. That’s great news for you because Rapala wanted to offer prizes to the top 20 finishers for each tournament. The game now has $90,000 worth of prizes. And it’s free to play! We’ve also redesigned the game to make it easier to navigate. And we’ve added 40 bonus points if you pick the winning weight.
