Bobby Lane hosts tournament for scholarships

The 6th Annual Bobby Lane High School Cup is taking place this year on December 3, 2016 at Camp Mack River Resort on Lake Kissimmee.  The Bobby Lane High School Cup is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization started by Professional Bassmaster Elite Angler Bobby Lane Jr., a long-time resident of the Lakeland, FL community.

This event hosted by the Bartow Yellow Jackets Fishing Team and Lakeland Jr. Bass Masters was established to further a love of fishing in our youth and raise money to provide scholarships to those students involved in the sport of bass fishing.

Two-person youth teams along with volunteer adult boat captains from several of the southern states will take off at safe light on Saturday to prove their fishing skills to their peers.

Throughout the day at Camp Mack, there will be chance drawing tickets sold for prizes from several of our sponsors and the younger children will have the opportunity to participate in the Reel Kids Casting Competition while they wait for the weigh-in to begin.

In 2015, the BLC event was proud to provide five $1000 scholarships, facilitated through the Polk Education Foundation, to deserving high school seniors from Florida all the way to Kentucky.  Students apply through PEF and are judged on participation in fishing tournaments and clubs, conservation of lakes in their local area and financial need.

Major sponsors for the event include Keller Mechanical, Seminole Asphalt Paving Inc., Kelley Buick GMC and Outcast Watersports.
