Bassmaster Elite Series veteran John Crews estimated his BassTrakk weight perfectly with his official weight and won his first BassTrakk Contingency Prize. For the first two days of competition his BassTrakk estimates were 37-2, which was spot-on to his official weights.
The $1,000 BassTrakk Contingency Prize is rewarded to the angler whose BassTrakk estimates are closest to the official weights at the end of two days.
“I’ve always tried to be as accurate as possible on BassTrakk,” said Crews. “With this tournament, I weighed every single fish as I caught them which I normally don’t do, but when you are catching a lot of fish that are the same size like you do at Champlain it helps.”
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Crews won the Contingency Prize because one of his running mates on the Bassmaster Elite Series is Ed Loughran who has won the prize two times during the 2021 season.
“Ed was actually mad because he was 1 ounce off, but my weight was spot on,” said the 12-time Classic qualifier. “He just referenced the fact that I stole his $1,000.”
