The “Nasty Mustache Club” rules

If you glanced at the BASSTrakk leaderboard at 12:15 p.m., you saw Seth Feider in first place with 23-4 and Chris Zaldain in a three-way tie for second with 20-0, unofficially. And speaking of unofficially, those two anglers comprise the “Nasty Mustache Club.”

There are no membership cards. But there might be after this tournament. Zaldain didn’t shave for a few days prior to the Elite Series event at the St. Lawrence River in August. When he did shave, he decided to “cut the mustache into my face.” He’s called it “the smallmouth ‘stache.”

“Seth’s one of the greatest smallmouth fishermen in the world, and he’s got the nastiest mustache,” Zaldain said after finishing second at Lake Tenkiller. “As soon as I cut it into my face, I started catching them – St. Lawrence, then Cayuga, then (Tenkiller). Three top 10s in a row with the moustache, so I’m keeping it.”

The force is with the Nasty Mustache Club so far today at Lake St. Clair.
