Day 4 with Grigsby - Bassmaster

Here comes Shaw Grigsby speeding to his first fishing spot.

Shaw had about a 45 minute run to get to where he was starting.

He drops his trolling motor and makes his first cast.

It didnât take long before he had his first fish in the boat.

Fish had to measure at least 14-inches longâ¦

â¦this one didnât quite make it.

Shaw is one of the best sight fishermen in the history of bass fishing, but even he couldnât see them in this muddy water.

Letâs give this bait a little love.

Shaye Baker and Dave Mercer came by to visit Shaw at one point during the day. They were watching in live in two different ways. They could actually see him, and watch him live on Bassmaster.com.

Shaw had cameras on him from every direction.

Usually when most people reach for a new rod from the rod locker, itâs just a rod with different bait attached. In Shawâs case, he literally pulled out a new rod.

Grigsby quickly attaches a reel to the new rodâ¦

â¦and was back to fishing.

Tournament champion Chris Lane and his entourage of spectators joined Grigsby in his area for a while.

Grigsby just kept flipping awayâ¦

â¦and hooks up with a fish with the champ in sight.

Shaw can already tell this oneâs not gonna measure.

He reaches for another weapon.

Most of the locations Grigsby fished looked similar to this one.

Though a lot of the habitat looked the same, he would slow down in key areas he had found in practice.

Finally, a fish that looks like a keeper

Shaw brings the fish around the bow of the boatâ¦

â¦but as he swings him into the boat the hook comes free.

Cameraman Rick Mason has his camera pointed directly at the fish.

When Grigsby swung the fish into the boat, the momentum brought the fish to the opposite side of the boat.

The fish, now without a hook in its mouth is sliding along the gunwale of the boat.

Grigsby dives on top of the rods on the deck of his boat, trying to get a grip on the escaping fish. It didnât happenâ¦the fish fell back into the water.
