Get Hooked on Fishing in Central Park

As part of its continued commitment to grow the sport of fishing, Bassmaster visited Central Park in New York City for its annual Adventures NYC – a day in the park designed to get kids outdoors and to teach them new things they can do while they are out there.

…and fishing! Bassmaster Get Hooked on Fishing showed over 650 kids the basics of casting and gave away hundreds of free gifts, while more than 6,000 people came through the venue to see what fishing was all about.

Bassmaster Get Hooked on Fishing sponsors Toyota, Shakespeare and TakeMeFishing.org provided lots of goodies for the kids to take home with them in the hopes that they will continue to pursue the sport of fishing no matter where they live.

There were lots of moms who had no idea how to introduce their kids to fishing. One mom said, “It’s so cool that you are teaching city kids to fish. We go to upstate New York in the summers so now they’ll be able to fish when we go.”

B.A.S.S. Nation volunteer, Joe Rodriguez, of the Great Falls Bass Club gave up a beautiful day that could have bene spent on the water to instead drive three hours into the city to teach casting skills.
