There's Smith of Team Florida who was happy to be the first on the water in this three-day tournament. The team champion, which will be named Thursday, is determined by totaling the cumulative weight of the 10 boaters and 10 non-boaters from each state. The top 34 in the money line will advance to fish for individual honors on Friday, as will the top three boaters and non-boaters from each state (if they are not already within the money line.) Seventeen eastern U.S. states are represented here in coastal Carolina, as is the Canadian province of Ontario.

Many anglers consulted on Tuesday at registration said fishing has been tough during practice. Still, they'll scour every bit of this coastal fishery to find the biggest bass it has to offer.
