Huff and Pierce searching

I ran just south of takeoff and found Cody Huff and Dakota Pierce of Bethel University. They weren’t quite sure of what they had from practice but knew if their schools stayed together they could catch some solid fish. I found them with their heads down and eyes locked on their electronics. I was hesitant to ask how their morning was going because I could tell it wasn’t the best.

They are sitting on zero at 10:15 a.m. CT and have hit five different spots this morning. Each of those stops consisted of the duo following fish on their trolling motor and pitching to them with spoons, drop shots and other winter suspending baits. Their schools have broken apart even though the bait is still present. They feel it could be because of the clouds that are hanging in the area.

Many, La., is expected to have some sunshine later today, which could help, but they still feel confident overall.

Huff will be busy in 2020 as he is fishing both divisions of the Basspro.com Bassmaster Opens, the Academy Sports and Outdoors Bassmaster Classic presented by Huk and as many college tournaments as possible. Huff finished in 64th with 22-5 last week at the Kissimmee Chain Eastern Open.
