Lowen in his element

“High muddy water gets in guys’ heads, but for me it’s normal.”

That comment from Bill Lowen sums up his mindset about the current situation on Pickwick Lake. The water is high, but it’s also falling as TVA continues lowering the lake away from the flood stage.

Lowen is doing what he likes most, which is fish dingy, shallow water, using a flipping presentation around wood. In his case, the wood is a combination of current break, ambush point, and possibly staging area.

Lowen is also ahead of the game with the falling water.

“What it’ll do is reposition the fish where they needed to be before the flooding,” he said. “The current breaks, where they will spawn, will be better when it reaches the right water level.”
