This morning Steve Bowman and I are covering the Chad Pipkens vs. Chris Lane Bracket. Pipkens begins the day with a 13 ounce lead. Yesterday he had three fish for 3 pounds. Lane had one fish for 2-3.
Weather conditions are different today. It’s overcast and warmer, 52 degrees with a high of 57, and a slight breeze. There’s a front moving in, with a chance of rain late in the afternoon.
Pipkens began near the bank, casting toward a rock wall. He was right next to Gerald Swindle, who is fishing against Mike McClelland in a different bracket. In a tournament like this sharing water with another guy is less of a problem if you’re not fishing against that angler. Pipkens stayed there five minutes and then headed out deep, where he caught a short fish. He then quickly moved to the other bank.
