Today is crucial for two reasons. Normally, it’s critical because it’s elimination day, with all but the Top 12 packing up and going home. This week, we can add the weather to the mix.
Post-Tropical Beta is headed this way. Beginning in Houston, torrential rain has fallen along its path. We don’t expect flooding rains around Lake Hartwell, but the low light, wind and rain will play into the game plans of the topwater anglers, which accounts for all of the top anglers.
What will that mean? Beyond the textbook implications, we’ll have to find out. At the weigh-in I listened to all of the anglers that I interviewed talk about short-striking fish, or those reluctant to even take the bait.
What we do know for sure is that change is on the way.
