Gear Review: Hobie H-Cart

WHAT IS IT?

Hobie H-Cart

WHAT SETS IT APART?

Hobie took the basic size and design of a milk crate and added features that make the H-Cart a multi-functional storage and gear mounting solution for almost any sit-on-top kayak. The H-Rail weighs 6 pounds and breaks down to a flat profile to take up less room when traveling. A tie-down point on each corner is used for attaching the included strap for securing to the kayak.

HOW DO I USE IT?

Designed to sit in the tank well of almost any sit-on-top kayak, the versatile H-Crate comes with an integrated rod holder in each corner — four total — with bungee retainers for quickly securing rods. Hobie H-Rail sections across the top of all four sides function as carry handles and as a mounting system for any H-Rail accessory. The walls of each H-Crate have pre-drilled holes for mounting extra accessories without the need of a wrench.

ANGLER’S INSIGHT:

Far more functional than a milk crate, the H-Crate offers many more advantages than the typical storage box. It’s foldable and breaks down flat for travel, and the rod holders and H-Rail for mounting accessories make it supremely functional for a day of kayak bass fishing.
