Gear Review: Magellan Pro Angler Technical Pants

WHAT IS IT?

Magellan Pro Angler Technical Pants

WHAT SETS IT APART?

Magellan clearly put a lot of thought into designing its stylish and impressively functional Pro Angler Technical Pants. Made of 89% nylon and 11% spandex, the pants feature a moisture-wicking treatment, along with UPF 50 protection for sunny days on the water. The four-way stretch fabric ensures comfortable movement, while an adjustable, elastic waist guarantees comfort, especially after a big dinner. One of the most impressive design elements is the front button, which includes a handy line cutter.

HOW DO I USE IT?

Front pockets terminate with a nearly horizontal edge convenient for clipping a pocketknife. Magellan provides plenty of space for carrying valuables, quick-access tackle, snacks or a water bottle with two side pockets and two hip pockets — all zippered. The right-side cargo pocket sports a utility pocket for small items, or another option for that pocketknife. Offered in sizes small to XXXL, the Pro Angler Technical Pants are available in caviar and dark shadow colors.

ANGLER’S INSIGHT:

I’m a big fan of zippered pockets, as cellphones, wallets, note pads, etc., have a way of sliding out at the worst possible moments. Magellan won me over with their thoroughness in securing rear and cargo pockets. I also like the way this garment smartly blends the lightweight, durable material that fits well in the outdoor space, with the clean lines and a casual style that could easily pull double duty for an evening dinner after your day on the water.
