Gear Review: Plano Weekend Softsider Bag

What is it?

Plano Weekend Softsider Bag

What sets it apart?

Plano’s new design uses tough 600D Polyester to create a handy container with a top flap similar to a camera bag that’s secured by straps and easy-opening buckles, rather than an awkward zipper. Plano’s thought here was to provide quick and easy access to the main compartment, even when hands are hindered by the elements. Each Softsider holds up to three Plano StowAway Utility Boxes (two included), but you can split the interior space between one or two boxes and any gear you’re carrying.

How do I use it?

Available in Plano’s popular 3500, 3600 and 3700 sizes, Softsiders come in tan or gray color schemes. Key features include easy access to the spacious exterior pocket, large mesh slip pockets (for holding line spools, water bottles, etc.) tactical-inspired MOLLE exterior webbing for attaching fishing tools or accessories, a sturdy D ring mounted attached to the front pocket and a reinforced top-carry handle and padded shoulder strap for comfortable transport.

How much?

$14.49-$23.99

Angler’s insight:

A huge chunk of the bass fishing market comprises the 9-5, 40-hour work week, TGIF folks, and Plano understands the importance of offering casual anglers well-designed storage options that won’t tap the gas budget. Nice bags for the budget-conscious, but more established anglers might also appreciate the functional simplicity when sneaking away for a little pond action during family gatherings or vacations when your significant other limits the amount of tackle you can pack.
