Gear Review: ZMan ChatterBait JackHammer Stealth Blade

What is it?

ZMan ChatterBait JackHammer Stealth Blade

What sets it apart?

Continuing its perfection of the bladed jig platform, Z-Man has expanded its ChatterBait JackHammer lineup with a model sporting a clear polycarbonate blade created to produce a unique sound and vibration that draws aggressive response. Like the original JackHammer, the StealthBlade starts thumping intensely with the first half-turn of the reel handle. Boosting the stealth factor, an oval split-ring line tie offers less surface area with nothing to catch vegetation or other snags.

How do I use it?

Available in 3/8- and 1/2-ounce sizes in six colors, the StealthBlade features a lighter wire, custom Decoy fluorine nanocoated hook. This allows anglers to cast the bait on slightly lighter line with full confidence in their ability to set the hook with minimal effort. In keeping with the JackHammer’s reputation for durability and performance, the StealthBlade includes a silicone skirt that’s hand-tied with stainless steel wire. Dual-wire trailer keepers pin soft plastic trailers in place for the long haul.

Angler’s insight:

This interesting version of a proven bait is built with a low center of gravity, a fish-shaped head that tracks straight and skips easily. That’s going to come in handy for showing something different to dock fish and those cooling their heels in the shadows of overhangs. Pairing this bait with different trailers will allow anglers to tweak the bait’s profile from a subtle swimming style to a more aggressive kicking, fluttering look.
