Kayak angler spotlight: Casey Reed

Simply put, Casey Reed, 36, is arguably the hardest working man in kayak fishing. Hailing from Lynchburg, Va., Casey’s day job is with the Liberty Mountain Snowflex Centre, an artificial ski and snowboard facility on Liberty University’s campus.

But unlike society’s desire to be defined by profession, Reed’s passion for kayak fishing defines him.

Fishing for 30 years and kayak angling for only the last eight, Reed has quickly become one of the industry’s tournament heavy hitters, fishing several tourneys through KBF, B.A.S.S. Nation and 5Live. With a first-place finish at the KBF Regional Championship at Lake Erie, an appearance in KBF The TEN and many other top finishes on the regional and national level, Reed has earned the respect of his peers as well as a host of sponsors.

Reed represents Old Town, FishUSA, Dakota Lithium and RS-NETS-USA and will be vying for a top finish at the B.A.S.S. Nation Kayak Series on the Mississippi in La Crosse, Wisc., this coming weekend.
